Gunn Road

No surprise many people think the St. Clair transit project is run by idiots. First they destroy the character of the avenue by running a slab of concrete through the heart of St. Clair from Yonge street to Keele.

Now as a final insult they misspell the street name for the Gunns loop.

Mikesjournal Chronicles #72 - We Thirst

The journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step.    -    Chinese Proverb

They fought wars over water yet more than seventy percent of the planet was covered in it. There is of course no shortage of water. It is fresh water they lack. And not even that, it is more the inability to recognize that they would be drowning in the stuff if they could only learn to purify it.

Imagine floating cities in the oceans. Situated north and south of the equator to take advantage of the sun. The cloud patterns visible on satellite are right there and show where to put the platforms for anyone to see. Imagine giant plastic harvesters collecting floating refuse and using it as fuel. Algae tanks. Artificial reefs and water by the billions of barrels filling tankers powered by sun and sail arriving from and departing to distant parched ports of call. Pipelines, not of oil, but of water.

A lot of money could be made. In the end, the betterment of mankind with the easing of thirst of the world would be have been cool but bullets gave more bang for the buck.

Mikesjournal Chronicles #37 –

The foolish writer heard about someone who was terribly burned in a fire. The writer imagined that the pain must have been incredible but he could not find words powerful enough to describe what the burn victim must have felt.

So, because he was foolish, the writer did a foolish thing. He put his hands into a fire until his skin blistered and he suffered third degree burns. The foolish writer thought the experience would enable him to better describe the pain.

Sadly the experiment did not work. He tried to type but the blistering fingers and agony would not let him. The foolish writer had to go to the hospital where his hands were wrapped in big bandages. He could not type until the bandages were removed and by then the experience, dream-like, had faded from his mind and he could still no longer find the words.
